LEVELS IN DANCE










RECREATIONAL
Your child will be taught exciting new dance technique and choreography in a dance class scheduled once a week for 10 months and will perform in our Annual Year End Show in a professionally choreographed number.

COMPETITIVE
Your child will be taught exciting new dance technique and choreography in a dance class scheduled once a week plus also be involved in a half hour competitive class rehearsal with their competitive dance group.    With their chosen dance form they will learn a competitive dance routine with their group for 10 months competing in three Canadian Dance Competitions and one US Dance Competition, as well as perform in our Annual Year End Show with this professionally choreographed number.
*** All children have the option to compete however competition is optional.

EXAMINATION

All children will train in tap, jazz, acrobatic examination syllabus in dance class once a week. Ballet students must train in two or three dance classes per week depending on level. Students wanting to take an exam and show promise will be expected to take two to six extra 1/2 hour to 1 hour class(es) ( extra fee ) scheduled on a Sunday to prepare for exam
with other examinations students starting in January.
Examination students will be notified by letter of examination in early November.
***Examinations are optional and up to the discretion of the teachers of BASIC ATTITUDE dance company.

STYLES OF DANCE


BASIC FORMS OF DANCE


TAP
a form of dance where in rhythmical sounds are created by the feet

JAZZ
a form of dance which develops a freestyle freedom of movement and promotes the basic principle of correct posture and placement of the body

BALLET
a form of dance which develops the base principles of all dance technique, posture, and placement for all dance froms.
Ballet is essential for the proper development and growth in a child's dance training. Our studio studies The Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Syllabus.

Tap, jazz, & ballet are the basic dance techniques needed for the proper development and growth of a child's dance training.

OTHER DANCE FORMS

ACROBATICS
a cross form of dance that develops hyper flexibility and is considered a cross between gymnastics and jazz

HIP HOP
a style of jazz that has been developed to introduce the use of isolation movements of various parts of the body

LYRICAL
a style of dance that helps the dancer to interpret the lyrics of the song, a strong foundation in jazz and ballet is needed

MODERN
a cross form of dance that develops the fall and recover method of Graham/Limon techniques which is considered a cross form of jazz & ballet.

MUSICAL THEATRE
a style of dance to enhance stage presence, acting, and dancing in a group production. Production Class Available.

When choosing acrobatics, hip hop, modern, and/or musical theatre dancer's should strongly consider a tap, jazz, and/or ballet class to further enhance & develop their dance training.
